The holidays are a time for giving thanks, honoring family traditions (or starting new ones!), and giving with intention. This holiday season, we’ve put together an event that combines all of the above.
For many of us, the holidays aren’t complete without a cookie exchange, and everyone loves a good baking contest. so we will be hosting a virtual contest on Sunday, December 12th while also collecting non-perishable food items for The Capital Area Food Bank. Please participate in one or both parts!
The Details:
Every contestant needs to deliver 12 cookies of their choice to 2480 16th Street NW between Saturday 12/11 at 9am and Sunday 12/12 at 5pm.
We’re also asking people to drop off non-perishable food items that will be collected and dropped to The Capital Area Food Bank the following day. Here’s some detail on most needed items for collection.
On Sunday evening at 7pm, tune in to the LIVE Zoom event where all contestants will be judged by 3 judges based on the following criteria:
Shape, Color, Uniform Appearance, Texture, and Flavor
The winner will receive bragging rights and a $200 donation will go to their charity of their choice!
After the event, we will make up cookie boxes with the remaining cookies and they will be delivered to all who have submitted their cookies for the challenge or exchange!
FAQ:
I can’t bake but I want to participate in the cookie exchange! Can I still join? A: Yes! Just drop off a dozen of a cookie you love (plop some pre-made cookie dough on a sheet pan if you’d like but please no oreos or keebler cookies!) and you can exchange HOWEVER you will not be entered into the bake-off contest.
I’m out of town the weekend of cookie drop-off! What can I do? A: Sign up and we’ll help figure it out for you. No stress — cookies are supposed to be fun, not stressful.
Can I help judge? A: Sadly no, we are all set with our 3 judges for this year, but we are open to guest judges next year!
